Is Microsoft Access being discontinued?
No. Desktop Microsoft Access still ships with Microsoft 365. What went away is the online Access experience. Microsoft stopped new Access Web Apps in June 2017 and shut remaining web apps and web databases down by April 2018. If you searched for an online Access product, that path no longer exists.
What Microsoft points people toward
For new database-style apps, Microsoft often points customers to Power Apps and Dataverse. That can be a fit if you are already deep in the Power Platform. Many small Canadian shops want something simpler to own: a custom web app with their data in SQL Server or PostgreSQL, Microsoft 365 sign-in, and hosting they understand.
What a practical replacement looks like
- Tables move to a real cloud database.
- Forms and reports become browser screens.
- VBA rules become server logic your team can maintain.
- Staff open the app from Windows, Mac, phone, or tablet without VPN file shares.
We can host it after cutover
After the rebuild, IT Real Simple can host the database, web application, domain name, and secured environment. Canadian region hosting is available when you want operational data to stay in Canada.
